Several thousand people lined the harbourside of Weymouth in Dorset for their annual Christmas Day swim now its 75th year!

Some 400 swimmers turned up to take part in the race which was split into 10 races of 50.

Getting to the finish some 120 metres across the chilly seawater is the aim with many swimmers choosing to take part in fancy dress costumes. Wearing such clothes sometimes aids and yet often hinders their efforts!

The pre-Christmas day lunch race has been held for 75 years and started in 1948 by two pub landlords on opposite sides of the harbour.

It raises thousands of pounds each year for local charities and is organised by the Weymouth Lions Club.
