A boy was propelled skyward as a firecracker was tossed into a drain leading to an explosive mishap in southern China.

The terrifying CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Baise in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on January 8.

An explosive blast sent a manhole cover soaring into the air, with the boy propelled to the side.

Eyewitness Mr. Chen revealed that the blast was so powerful that it instantly launched the heavy manhole cover into the sky. Chen speculated that the drain might have contained swamp gas, contributing to the force of the explosion.

Fortunately, the young boy, though affected by the blast, emerged with minor injuries. Witnesses reported that he limped as he walked, a visible consequence of the explosive incident.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
