Students comforted a trembling stray dog during a 6.2 magnitude earthquake in China.

Footage shows the youngsters huddling with the pooch as the ground shook in Gansu province on December 19.

They also tried to calm the scared canine with one of them saying: ‘It's okay, it's okay, I'm here with you.'

The earthquake struck Jishishan County in the Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu province, on December 18, shortly before midnight.

It killed at least 113 people, injured 536 and destroyed 155,393 houses in Jishishan County, Gansu.

The earthquake also affected neighbouring Qinghai province, with residents in Haidong City and Menyuan County experiencing strong tremors.
