A trio of crying stray kittens was rescued from inside a car engine in Thailand.

Footage shows the locals pulling out the hapless felines from the hot engine compartment at a fuel station in Bangkok on July 17.

Car owner Nunta Nut said: 'They were kittens living in the building next door, near where our car was parked. We don't know how they got inside. When I got to the gas station to refuel, the attendant said he heard a cat meowing.

'We were startled so we turned off the engine, and heard that really was a cat. But I don't know how many there were. Finally found a total of three. Two survived but one died.'
