Humpback Whale washes up on Oregon Coast. cause of death unknown

On January 31, 2016 a juvenile female Humpback Whale washed ashore in Seaside, OR. It is unusual for this type of whale to wash ashore in Oregon. Some juvenile whales were recently reported in the nearby Columbia River which is highly unusual. It was determined that the whale was a juvenile female approximately 1 year old and 24 ft. long. Researchers conducted a dissection and autopsy. No obvious cause of death has yet been determined. The city will bury the whale in the sand after the investigation concludes. Humpback whale research.
