Police officers on January 24 removed refugees who were illegally occupying a building on Corporation Street in Cape Town.

Officers arrested and detained those individuals who couldn’t provide documentation. People were left on the street with their belongings and private security will now take control of the building.

Cape Town, South Africa, 24 January 2024: South African police and immigration officials surrounded a building in Corporation Street this morning. They then proceeded into the building into the building which has been illegally occupied by mostly foreign nationals.
