Overseas Chinese in Tanzania celebrated the upcoming Spring Festival at a reception on Monday.
The reception was held at the Chinese embassy in the port city of Dar es Salaam.

"The Lunar New Year, that is the Chinese New Year, is a common memory of the Chinese people at home and abroad and an important part of the international Chinese culture. It carries peace, friendship, harmony, and other concepts of Chinese civilization, as well as the common expectations of all humanity for reunion, happiness, contentment, and well-being."

"Most importantly, I would like to appreciate the Chinese government for its strong cooperation in the areas of capacity building amongst immigration functionaries. According to our records, almost 107 immigration officers have attended different training courses tenable in the People's Republic of China since 2005. Such courses include entry-exit Administration, port management, human resource management, information, and security network, and Chinese language. In addition to that, we also appreciate your support in different technological facilities which has enabled the department to deliver efficient services."
The reception was also attended by members of the diplomatic corps from various countries, senior government officials, and academicians.
The 2024 Spring Festival will fall on Feb. 10, kicking off the Year of the Dragon.
