Three people have been killed after a fire ripped through a perfume warehouse in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Five others were injured in the blaze and were taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment.

Police are yet to identify the cause of the fire but they said inflammable materials stocked in the building lacked adequate safety measures.

Three people including the owner of a perfume warehouse died after a major fire broke out on the outskirts of Bengaluru on February 19 ()Sunday afternoon.

Five others were injured and shifted to Victoria Hospital. Police are yet to identify the deceased but confirmed the recovery of three bodies from the warehouse at Ramasamudra, close to Kumbalagodu, on Bengaluru’s western outskirts.

The incident took place around 5 pm in a perfume warehouse belonging to one Saleem. While the police are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire, they said the building, where inflammable materials were stocked, lacked adequate safety measures in place.

A fire and emergency services department officer said it was found that an old house was converted into a perfume warehouse and that it had a licence. There were more than eight employees and five of them who were close to the door escaped with minor burns. Three of them who were inside the warehouse died after they could not find a way out and smoke surrounded them.

The fire has been doused and further investigation is underway, said a police officer.
