STORYLINE:

Thanks to the growth in freight train numbers and the launch of new routes, Chongqing Municipality in southwest China has seen increase in its export via China-Europe freight train service this year.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): XU RUNQIU, Marketing manager, Yuxinou (Chongqing) Logistics Co., Ltd.
"We have taken a number of measures together to cater for the export need of local and neighboring companies, and significantly increased the number of Europe-bound trains. In January this year, the volume of Europe-bound cargo increased by about 200 percent compared with the previous month."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): LUO YONG, Chairman of a local new energy company
"The order volume this year has doubled compared with the same period last year, and the frequency of freight trains is also very high. Based on our production capacity, the customers require us to ship one or two containers every day. We have begun to adjust production capacity since the Spring Festival. The supply can meet the demand now. Later, we will ship three containers of our products on a daily basis."

Up to now, the China-Europe freight train service has connected Chongqing with more than 100 cities and regions in Asia and Europe.

Thousands of varieties of goods, including automobiles, auto parts, furniture, as well as medical equipment, have been transported via this service.
