The land port of Erenhot, the largest one on the China-Mongolia border, has seen flourishing freight throughput in the first two months of 2024.

According to the local commerce bureau, in the first two months of this year, the freight volume of imported and exported goods at the Erenhot Port reached 3.171 million tonnes, an increase of 7.7% year-on-year.

Among them, the railway freight volume totaled 2.792 million tonnes, marking a 0.8% year-on-year increase, while the highway import and export freight volume amounted to 379,000 tonnes, reflecting a 118.5% year-on-year surge.

Erenhot port has simplified its procedures and improved the efficiency of customs clearance for both imported and exported goods. It has also actively promoted the pilot construction of a smart port, improved its railway port inspection capacity, and promoted the upgrading and renovation of its road port inspection infrastructure.
