A Thai Liverpool fan has thousands of football cards displayed behind a glass wall in his living room.

Iti Nana, 30, said he started collecting the items in 2015 as he enjoyed watching many sports with friends in Bangkok, Thailand.

From a hobby, the cards accumulated and now nine years later he has built a large cabinet to house his collection.

Footage shows Iti sitting on a couch in front of his massive stack of football cards and discussing how he became interested in them.

The Livepool FC supporter said: 'Basically, they are like a collectible item similar to jerseys, posters, photos. Most of the time, they are made out of paper. Some cards would have autographs, some would have patches.

'I was just watching through YouTube and then came across a video of these football cards. From then on, I did more research… that led on to buying my first box of my first cards. Now it's been seven, eight years.'

Iti added he liked them so much that he bought more of them every time he had the chance.

He said: 'When you like something you know you tend to buy more and more. You don't sell as much so I mean, in terms of single cards now I probably have like 10,000.

Iti noted that when he started there were only a few people who collected them until they became popular collectibles.

He said: 'When I started, the market wasn't as big as it is now, so it was more 80, 90 per cent collecting and maybe 10 per cent investing.

'The boom happened around 2018. That's when it became 60 or 70 per cent collecting and 30 or 40 per cent investing.'

As a Liverpool fan, he said there are cards that may not be the most expensive but are special to him.

He said: 'There are certain cards like Maradona card. The set I brought to show… there are only three in the world. Meaning, there's only three cards that look like this with his autograph.'

Iti added different factors determine a card's value. He said: 'Like the rookie cards or the first year of a card that would also make the card high value. There will also be other factors of course - how good the player is. That's probably the most important thing.

'There are factors like has the player signed on the card or some players sign on a stick then they put the sticker on the card. And that's classified as a sticker card.'

'Of course a card will be more expensive because people sign on them. And then there's some cards where there's patch meaning like materials from the shirt.'

The card collector said people can buy from eBay, Facebook, or other kinds of online marketplace.

He said: 'You can also get cards from buying boxes. So you buy a box, you open the box up and you'll get whatever cards in the box. And the third type is what we call breaks. You can get these cards when one person will open a whole case, like 12 boxes.'

Since 2018, he said the collectors in Thailand have become bigger.

He said: 'When I started we were a very small group. I mean, started collecting we were very small but now today it's growing probably 200, 300, 500 percent in the last three or four years.'

Iti added the collectors meet up to trade cards, or simply chat about football.

He said: 'We also have an event twice a year we call 'Trade Day'. The last one was done in February. Probably about five or 600 people came.'

Football is the most popular sport in many Asian countries, including Japan, South Korea, China, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. It is also growing in popularity in other Asian countries, such as India, Vietnam, and Thailand.
