According to local reports, there were localized hailstorms and tornadoes in the afternoon, accompanied by widespread moderate to severe thunderstorms and localized heavy rain, along with short-lived strong winds and intense lightning.

The local government stated that a tornado struck the northern suburbs of the city, specifically the Baiyun District, around 3:00 p.m., injuring 33 people. The tornado lasted for about four minutes.

Some areas of the city also experienced hail, with some hailstones reaching approximately 5 centimeters in diameter. The meteorological department of Guangdong Province described the tornado as a level three (out of a maximum of five), with wind speeds ranging from 218 to 265 kilometers per hour.

In the coming days, Guangzhou may continue to experience heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning.
