A magical mirage transformed a coastline into an enchanted wonderland in eastern China.

Video filmed in Qingdao City in Shandong Province on April 28 shows mountains appearing on a sea surface, shrouded in mist, resembling a fairyland.

A mirage is a natural phenomenon formed by the refraction and total internal reflection of light, creating an illusion of objects reflected by the Earth's atmosphere. It is an optical illusion, commonly occurring in summer when the air near the Earth's surface is heated by the sun, causing its density to be lower than that of the higher atmosphere. This density difference leads to the refraction of light, resulting in the mirage phenomenon.
