Storm surge in Cornwall

Force 7 to Force 9 winds batter the south coast of Cornwall, bringing rain and heavy swell to many seaside resorts. Waves tops the railings on Penzance promenade, and cover cars in destructive saltwater at Mousehole. This storm seems to mimic history in that December 23rd is Bawcock's Eve, which celebrates the huge catch of fish made by Tom Bawcock during a raging storm to save the village from starvation.

Most boats stayed safe in the harbour at Newlyn, while outside the harbour, intrepid surfers make use of the storm surge.
