A rather unpleasant video has emerged from the US of a man letting his friends drill a hole into his swollen, pus-filled big toe in a somewhat ill-considered attempt to 'relieve the pressure'.

The footage, captured at a home in Pittsburgh, PA, shows the make-shift medical procedure undertaken by a group of friends during their thanksgiving celebrations.

​The drill can be seen entering through the centre of the toenail and producing an explosion of pus.

Despite the gruesome procedure, the injured man can heard towards the end of the 'operation' and although he's a little freaked out he is otherwise alive and well.

After a group of friends (30 years old and up) played their annual Turkey Bowl. One guy was left with a smashed big toe. The solution was to drill a hole through his toenail to relieve the pressure.
