Thousands of women marched from Atocha train station to Spanish parliament in Madrid on Saturday (February 1) to protest against the government´s proposal to reform the abortion law, making it more restrictive for women to interrupt their pregnancy.
Women gathered at Madrid Atocha station coming from different regions of Spain.
Carrying banners and chanting slogans supporting women´s right to decide, the protesters marched through the main streets of downtown Madrid.

The demonstration arrived at the Spanish Parliament to present a formal request to end with the reform of the law.
The feminist groups also assert that they are determined to continue with the protests and will mobilize other feminist groups from the EU.
Since the government announced its intention to reform the law, it has been mired in controversy as a result of opposition from feminist group and sectors of the its own party who argue that there is not need for and no social demand for a reform that has been suggested to satisfy the more consevative wing of the ruling People's Party.
