A terrifying video has emerged from South Africa of the moment a motorbike crashed at high speed into a car.

In the video, which was filmed on the N2 between Plettenberg Bay and George, the motorbike is travelling fast down the road when suddenly a car turns right without indicating.

The motorbike rider has no time to brake and slams into the side of the car.

The video stops abruptly because the rider landed on his GoPro's record button.

Amazingly, he walked away with only a sprained leg.

According to the filmer, the driver was an old lady.

"Even though she turned right without indicators/blinkers I don't place the full blame on her, since I was also timing my overtake-manoeuvre to coincide with the double solid-line ending," he wrote online.

Although the video was filmed in 2014, it has only recently come to light.

About 1200km (745 miles) into our 5600km (3479 miles) trip. I was riding my F800GS when an old lady turned in front of me. This was between Plettenberg Bay and George on the N2. No brake lights or indicators could be seen. Even though she turned right without indicators/blinkers I don't place the full blame on her, since I was also timing my overtake-maneuver to coincide with the double solid-line ending.

That morning my riding buddy and I decided we would take it easy - yes 80km/h easy - as we only had to cover about 95km for the day. We ALSO debated whether we would wear our gear - thankfully we did.

Came off without broken bones. Sprained my ankle, but walked away. Essentially used all my gear:
landed on my right hand where I probably would have took plenty of skin, and bone off the hand had I not had gloves. This fall turned into a head, right shoulder, right leg, and right forearm slide across the road. walked away with a tiny road rash on my leg that is probably not worth mentioning. Also convinced I would have broken my ankle without the riding boots. The bike was fitted with SW-Motech crashbars, I am convinced they saved my left leg.

The bike was towed to the nearest BMW Motorrad, they had to replace was the exhaust manifold and we completed the trip, 5600km in total!
