A heartwarming video has emerged from the US of a rescue wild dear appearing to fall asleep whilst being cuddled by its carer.

The footage, captured on March 2 in Chilton County, Alabama, shows the deer lying peacefully on the womam's lap whilst she pets him.

''I found this deer almost dead on the side of the road.. I don't what it was that made me stop but I'm glad I did, the filmer later wrote online.

''After a couple days of taking care of her hand feeding and watering her she started standing.''

''I had to teach her to walk again and how to eat and drink on her own as she was blind and deaf after two weeks she got so much better, she added.
