Heartwarming footage has emerged from Sydney, Australia of kangaroo joeys being taken care of after they were rescued from bushfires.

The video shows the young kangaroos bonding with their carer as their burns are being treated before they can be released.

Burnie, which can be seen eating a banana in the clip, was rescued by the family on February 18 form the Carwoola fires.

He currently lives with two other joeys which were rescued from fires too.

"Burnie was the first of two rescued on the day of the fires, with burns
to his feet, hands and tail," his carer wrote online.

"He is doing great, and he will be released in spring if he overcomes all the injuries, which at this point we fully expect him to."

"We have 4 inside the house, 3 from the fires. Then 6 out in our enclosure awaiting release," she added.

"And a big mob that are freed that we see each and every night. Some are ones we raised, some of them wild ones that joined in because they get fed."
