An adorable video has emerged of a 20-month-old boy arguing with his father.

The footage, shot on Tuesday in New York, NY, USA, shows the baby standing on a kitchen worktop, trying to open a cupboard door.

His father tries to tell him his mother will get mad if he opens the cupboard but the cheeky boy ignores the advice and opens the door.

"He is a New Yorker and he's showing his New Yorker personality," the mother wrote online.

"Even when he still doesn't know how to talk that's not a barrier for him to reply back to his dad on his baby talk."
