Remarkable footage has emerged of fishermen nursing a large golden eagle back to health after it was attacked by another bird off the coast of Norway.

The footage, captured near Bliksvær, shows a fisherman taking care of the giant bird of prey as it perches on the side of the boat.

According to the filmer, the bird was involved in a fight with another eagle, and was unable to get out of the water before it was rescued.

"He was too heavy to fly up again and we saw that," the filmer wrote online.

"We pulled the boat over an tried to rescue the big bird from the sea. The eagle saw the situation and decided not to resist and behaved easily," he added.

After testing its wings, the fishermen then helped the bird onto the rocks of a nearby island, where it was allowed to dry off.
