Bizarre Public Toilets Open in Chongqing

A central district of the Chinese city of Chongqing is developing an odd reputation in China as the place with by far the most unusual public toilets.

Dotted around Jiulongpo district are public conveniences in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Nestling among some trees there now stands a bizarre toilet in the shape of a toy military tank with huge caterpillar tracks and large goggly eyes above the entrance.

Not far away is a very colourful public convenience, which appears to have been designed with children in mind, with cutouts of huge zoo animals adorning the exterior and some smaller creatures plastered to the inside.

Close to an electronics market is a WC in the form of a giant digital camera and another in the shape of a personal computer.

According to local news reports, the government has plans for 22 of these unusual toilets with another 11 expected to be completed this year.
