THE AURORA OVER DONEGAL IRELAND

Buy video

Last night was one hell of a night A G2 geomagnetic storm developed as Earth moves into a stream of fast-moving solar wind. Storms like this do not rank as major space weather events, but they have been known to spark Northern Lights as far south as New York, Idaho, and Washington. Here in Ireland it was one of the best shows in a long time with the northern light been seen really far south last night.

England ,Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland where all clouded out of it last night due to a weather front passing over but just as dark fell the weather front passed by Donegal with clearances developing. it was a battle to get his timelapse tonight as there where showers over head when shooting it.

Location of the aurora is Ballyshannon, Donegal, Ireland.

I shot the time lapse on a cannon 1200d. each shot is a long exposure of 30 seconds at 1600 ISO.
