Songkran (Thai New Year’s) Festival in Chiang Mai in Thailand
The Songkran Festival celebrates the Thai New Year. Locals parade through the street in traditional Thai attire, as a city-wide “water fight” takes places, over 3 days. Thai people believe in blessing people/belongings for the year ahead by splashing them with water. Inevitably, celebrations descend into locals and tourists alike throwing water at each other!
