Storm Eleanor Hits New Brighton 3-1-18
The tail end of Storm Eleanor hit New Brighton at the same time as a 9.8 metre high tide. Just about 0.5 m lower than the highest tides New Brighton experiences. There seemed to be very little storm surge thus the flooding was minimal. Having said that, it was nevertheless quite severe. The driftwood ship in the video is The Black Pearl, built by local artists/Pirates and is the about the third version of the ship as its previous incarnation was washed away in the Terrible storm of 5th Dec 2013, which saw New Brighton badly flooded.
