A touching video has emerged online of a grieving bride who was walked down the aisle by the giant bird mascot of the University of Miami American football team.

Jennifer Urs Sullivan lost her father, Walter Urs, a former player for the University of Connecticut, two years ago.

When her now husband Patrick Sullivan proposed six months after her father's death, she was excited but saddened by the thought of not having her dad at her side walking her down the aisle.

So, as a tribute to her father who loved football, and a way of turning a potentially sad moment into an uplifting one, Jennifer and Patrick arranged for Sebastian, the University of Miami Mascot, to do the honours.

As Sebastian runs into the church to take Jennifer's arm, friends and family of the bride and groom rise to the feet in spontaneous laughter and applause.
