Lava spouts metres into the air from an active fissure in Hawaii, weeks after the initial eruption of the Kilauea volcano.

Footage filmed on May 18 shows the lava flow from fissure 17 in the lower Puna area, which continues into the night.

Kilauea volcano erupted on May 3 following seismic activity and has been active ever since.

Thousands have been evacuated from the nearby Leilani estates, where dozens of houses are believed to have been destroyed.
