Camp Fire in Paradise, California as it burned over three people trapped in flames
This closer video was right after the fire burned over myself and my two neighbors Paul and Suzie Ernest, while I was putting the fire out at Paul’s quad.
We had wanted to drive out our dead-end street up to the main road to the north to evacuate, but the flames were already there. The caravan of vehicles then turned around to flee the flames by heading south, but Paul and Suzie and I abandoned our cars with all of our valuables and jumped onto our quads to head down the steep trails behind my house a mile or two to a rocky bluff. We crouched behind a bolder. As the fire overtook us I kept jumping through walls of flames to different areas, but I could hear Paul and Suzie screaming.
The fire had surrounded us from all directions. On the first video you can briefly see the quads on the horizon. At the end is the boulder where Paul and Suzie were sheltering. You can see their silhouettes on the right side of the rock. I quit filming because I was afraid of what I would find when I approached them because they had become silent.
They were still alive but horribly burned. Getting rescuers out there was nearly impossible during the raging fire. I managed to get two rescuers with their gear onto my one quad and drive them back into the fire to get Paul and Suzie back out on both quads.
