RMT strike hits rush hour commuters and those heading home after Christmas
Rush hour commuters and thousands of railway passengers heading home after Christmas have been affected by a strike by the RMT union today (27th December) over guards potentially being removed from train services.
The strike has hit services on South Western Railway, which is resuming services following no trains on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
South Western Railway said in a statement that the RMT "has no intention of finding a solution and is only interested in inflicting more misery on passengers as they try to enjoy the festive season". It branded the strike action as "totally unnecessary".
This was the scene at Waterloo Station this evening.
