First days of jellybean
Jellybean is a orphaned duck my husband witnessed mother and other ducklings get hit on highway, jellybean blew out from under the end of mothers wing. My husband pulled over to see if any survivors, jellybean was rolling down highway from wind created by traffic speed of vehicles. He reached down to grab it certain it too had perished. Although rocks were stuck in his head and a impact wound to his head, he was alive and okay. He brought him to my office, I said "what is it" couldnt tell at first he was pretty beat up. He tellls me what happened, hands him to me with a little parts box and says "please do whatever you can for it, its the only survivor". I told my boss I had to leave for remainder of the day, stopped by feed store on my way home for some duckling/fledgling food and boosts for water and began 3 day sleepless quest to ward off the inevitable deadly shock and run its course as mildly as possible. (While not a vet, Ive rescued countless breeds of many species of animals, never duckling though) The 3rd morning I must have gotten a bit of rest because I woke in a panic hoping he had not went into shock and perished from my negligence of passing out. He was peering his head through the bars of the cage at me with these loving eyes, he had imprinted with me. The first year of his life I documented a lot with videos and pictures, and some this past 6 months. He is a year and a half now. He has opened mine and everyones whose met him eyes as to the duck and how intelligent, witty, and overall personality thereof. The rest is in videos Ive put together, some not.
