Death of a killer rat

Buy video

It took five nights but we got it in the end. We had our prized White Bourke's Parakeet dragged from its nest and through a rat hole in our aviary. We ended up setting over half a dozen traps of various kinds, gin traps, typical rat traps, rolling barrel trap, spring snares etc but to no avail, baited with everything from corn, venison and even a dead budgie but still no luck. This little sod danced rings around all of them, night after night, all in front of the cameras, mocking us. Finally after adding a dollop of lube to the catch release of the gin trap, the rat made its fatal mistake and got sprung. It had over 6 hours in the jaws before we found it the next morning, plenty of time to think about what it did wrong. Here's the final 8 minutes from over 56 hours of tape showing this rat doing what rats do.
