A dead rat fell from a ceiling and landed on a plate of food when customers were dining in a restaurant in southern China.

Video filmed in Chongqing on March 8 shows a dead rat laying on a plate of roast duck.

The customer named Li said he was celebrating a friend's birthday in a restaurant called Gu Ding Feng and a rodent suddenly fell from the ceiling and landed on their food.

The rat did not move after falling down and all diners were shocked.

Li said it was the first time that they had encountered such a situation and they all lost their appetites.

The restaurant explained that the rat had eaten rat poison and may have fallen from the ceiling after the poison took effect.

A staff member at Gu Ding Feng stated that they had reached an agreement with the customers to waive part of the meal fee.

They also contacted a pest control company to handle the situation and the restaurant is currently operating as usual.

事情发生在3月8日晚上，李先生称当时是朋友生日，在谷鼎丰订了饭菜，自己应邀参与。结果饭吃到一半，一只老鼠从天而降，砸在板鸭盘子里一动不动，当时大家都感到很惊讶，这么多年第一次遇到这种情况，大家也没有心情吃饭了，很扫兴。
李先生表示，商家解释是说老鼠吃了老鼠药后跑了，可能跑到梁上的时候药效发作了，就掉了下来。
3月9日，谷鼎丰工作人员回应称，8号晚上确实发生了这么一件事，，已经和顾客协商免除一部分餐费，对方也同意协商处理，事后也联系了灭鼠公司来餐馆处置，目前餐馆正常营业。
该工作人员还表示，饭店每个月都会请人捕鼠灭鼠，自己做了三十多年也是第一次遇到这种情况。9日饭店又请了灭鼠人员，把楼上楼下每个角度都查看了一遍。
