Watch this shocking footage of a number of cars trying to plough their way through deep water as a devastating hailstorm rips through Varna,Bulgaria on May 21.

The torrential rain transforms a road into what looks like a dangerous river, forcing the vehicles to drive very slowly as the water completely submerges their wheels and rushes up over their bonnets.

The filmer stands on a bench under an awning and films the deep water splashing up underneath his feet.

Thunder rumbles overhead and lightning flashes in the distance as the hail and rain relentlessly hammer down.

You can see us on the street hiding under a bus station. A huge hail hit Varna, Bulgaria and the brand new most expensive boulevard ( less than 2 months old ) got badly flooded and cars got stuck. The whole city was looking like a river.
