Oguma, Saito, and Marazziti came to the Club to talk about their efforts to abolish the death penalty in Japan in 2020; the year of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
They also spoke about the next visit to Japan of Pope Francis, who is also campaigning against the death penalty. During his stay in Japan, the Pope will meet Iwao Hakamada, who was released in 2014 after 48 years on death row, accused of a crime of which it now appears he is innocent.
