A man has been arrested after attempting to rob a bank with an axe in eastern China.

The CCTV video, shot in the city of Chizhou in Anhui Province on November 23, shows a 26-year-old man named Pan using an axe to repeatedly smash the counter's glass window at Postal Savings Bank of China.

Two female bank employees inside the counter can be seen trying to negotiate with the robber and calm him down.

According to reports, the robber was already controlled by bank employees when police arrived. The case is being investigated.

2019年11月23日8时20分许，青阳县公安局110接报警称：有人持斧在新河镇邮政储蓄银行抢劫。接报警后，我局新河派出所民警立即赶赴现场，将正在银行大厅实施抢劫的犯罪嫌疑人潘某（男，26岁，南陵县人）抓获。目前，该案正在进一步侦办中。
