Ben Treat, otherwise known as his Instagram and TikTok name, Frantic Frames, is taking social media by storm due to his creative animations.

This cool compilation of just some of Ben's work shows the intricate behind-the-scenes process and impressive final product, including a satisfying "fruit flattening" animation and a distorted "breathing breakfast," inspired by popular sculptor and stop-motion animator Guldies.

Ben has been animating for nine years and is only 17-years-old, currently balancing his intricate clay stop-motion animations with high school.

Creating from his family home in Fort Collins, Colorado, Ben is on a budget, often finding props for his animated videos at Goodwill thrift store and the dollar store.

Ben told Newsflare: "I spend an average of 30 hours a week running my social media, coming up with animation ideas, sculpting and preparing, animation itself and then post-production. It is very time consuming and some weeks it’s all I do."

In the past six months, he’s amassed tens of thousands of followers, and growing.

Now, Ben (@franticframes) boasts over 306,000 followers on TikTok and over 58,400 followers on Instagram.

"Stop motion is created by taking individual pictures, 24 per every second of animation, and applying tiny changes to give the illusion of movement," Ben explained to Newsflare.

"I started by animating objects and food, and then slowly progressed to paper and cutouts, and now I have adopted Claymation! It’s my favourite because it’s so versatile and allows me to do anything I have the will power to try," he continued.

"I have a super supportive family that thinks the animations are great and love that I create them. My family is very creative and it runs in the blood to do stuff like I do.

"From here I would love to animate music videos and commercials. I would also love to work with other professionals in my field creating things I couldn’t even dream of!"

This was a Claymation animation of a plate of breakfast food that was animated over a 3 day period with a total of 22 hours of work...
The idea was to play with reality

This is a Clay Stop Motion animation, where the goal was to replicate the movements of ink with clay. This animation was created over the course of 5 hours, the last hour and a half completely dedicated to 9 frames of the animation ( 9 Frames is about the last 1/3 of a second) where the ink explodes. Every tiny wire had to be hand erased and it was a very tedious process

This is a stop Motion animation using objects paper and even clay to create an effect that the iron is flattening the fruit. This was animated when I was 16 years old (now 17) it was a 7 hour process 1 hour of set and props 5 hours of animating and 1 hour of post production. Fun fact is that I bought the iron for $2 at goodwill and the paper for 50 cents a sheet at the dollar store and spent less than $5 on the entire production

This is a Clay Stop Motion animation, based on imagery associated with creativity and how it might be injected into someone... I used a hand pencil sharpener and animated while sharpening all 3 pencils down so that it acts like a syringe... It took 4 hours to complete.

1: I first animated 9 years ago when I was 8, but I didn’t start trying to animate to improve my abilities until two years ago.

2: I spend an average of 30 hours a week running my social media’s, coming up with animation ideas, sculpting and preparing, animation itself and then post production... It is very time consuming and some weeks it’s all I do...

3: I first started seeing large growth on social media about 6 months ago when I focused my animations on Claymation... I had a few videos preform very well and bring in a few thousand followers...

4: I have a super supportive family that thinks the animations are great and love that I create them... My family is very creative and it runs in the blood to do stuff like I do... my friends for the most part don’t know much about it...

5: From here I would love to animate music videos and commercials as freelance work and rent out a studio in the city I live... I would also love to move to a studio that’s established and work with other professionals in my field creating things I couldn’t even dream of!

6: Claymation wasn’t my first interest in animation, I started by animating objects and food, and then slowly progressed to paper and cutouts, and now I have adopted Claymation! It’s my favorite because it’s so versatile and allows me to do anything I have the will power to try!
