Health workers screen Thai students for coronavirus during school exams
Health workers are screening students in Thailand for coronavirus before they take their exams.
Footage from Wednesday (March 11) shows the teenagers arriving to complete their studies, despite fears of the virus spreading.
They had to go through health checkpoints which detect fevers, a symptom of the deadly COVID-19 bug ravaging the world.
Any pupils with signs of the illness, such as a cold or cough, a separate room for them to take their exam apart from the other students was provided.
The school in Khon Kaen province believes that it would be a disadvantage to the students if they postponed the exams so they are continuing with them while rolling out extra health checks.
One teacher there, Miss Wongapai, said: "The entrance exam is important to the students so they could not postponed. Instead, we have to come up with a safety procedure.
"The officers split up and created health checkpoints at every exam venue to screen 5,000 students from the province.
"After the checkpoint, we also have alcohol sanitiser gel at every exam room for the students and staff to clean themselves.''
Thailand has 59 confirmed coronavirus cases and one death. There are 119,405 infections around the world and 4,300 deaths as of March 11.
