This was the amusing moment a New Zealand police officer in Auckland was caught on a built-in camera admiring a Tesla on March 17.

Footage shows the officer - who parked next to the electric vehicle - get out her cruiser and notice the car while returning to her vehicle continuing the admiration.

the car's owner said: "While I was stopped at a service station to get a drink, I was parked next to Police car.

"When they came back and saw the Tesla Model 3 next to them, one of the officers seemed quite excited by it and had to take a good look.

"The Model 3 is still relatively new in New Zealand so it still catches attention.

"The car caught this all on its security system called Sentry Mode."
