Akash Shivdarshan Singh is a 23-year-old TikTok star (@wassupakash) and parkour practitioner from Mumbai, India.

The self-taught athlete demonstrates his impressive skills as he pulls off a series of ELEVEN backflips in this cool clip recorded on the beach in April 2019.

A resident of Worli in South Mumbai, Singh was 11-year-old when he started using YouTube and social media videos to learn parkour tricks, even enrolling himself in gymnastic classes to train his body for extreme stunts.

Since then he has dedicated his life parkour and is a member of the group Ultimate Striderz, promoting performance art incorporating parkour, gymnastic, dance, and acrobatics.

Now Singh boasts more than 4.6 million followers on TikTok and had roles in countless Indian movies.

A resident of Worli, Mumbai, he is one of the few people in India to be a part of the biggest alternate sport cultures in the world called parkouring.

Vaulting over walls, jumping buildings, arms held open for balance; after taking a second to gather himself, a parkour practitioner or traceur climbs poles and slides down railings without breaking a sweat.

This military training regiment is re-emerging as the country's favourite fitness discipline.

When he was 11-year-old, the interest came from several movies showcasing parkour sequences.

From then onwards he had made up his mind that he wanted to be a traceur.

Initially, his family was not supportive of his dreams, however, slowly with time as he developed parkouring skills, he has proven them wrong.

Akash is a self-trained traceur, he used YouTube and social media videos to learn the tricks of the trade.

From a very young age, he enrolled himself in gymnastic classes to train his body for the extreme stunts that leave people breathless.

He recalls those days when he used to sneak into Cyber Cafe centres to catch a glimpse of his favourite parkour stars in action.

Slowly, he has developed the art of parkouring into something more than just adventures.

In the later years, he was inducted into Ultimate Striderz, a group of people promoting performance art incorporating parkour, gymnastic, dance and acrobatics.

Akash has travelled to over four countries for his performances and has been a part of countless of Indian movies.

He is also TikTok star, under the handle wassupakash, with a fan following of more than 4.6 million people appreciating his performances.

Akash is hopeful about parkouring in the future, although he stresses on being safe is more important than jumping into risky stunts.

He believes parkouring is a dangerous sport, swinging and jumping over obstacles require intensive training to land on the ground triumphantly, without any injuries.
