Doctors in India remove fish hook lodged in worker's nose
While loading fish onto his truck, a man accidentally got fishing bait stuck in his nose. Hospital officials quickly arrived and used a cutter to remove the hook safely, preventing serious injury and rescuing him from a dangerous situation.
The incident took place in Panavilayil, Theppupara, Ezhakulam Panchayat Ward 4, in Pathanamthitta district, in southern India's Kerala, on September 21.
Visuals show that a fisherman was admitted to the hospital after a fishhook got stuck in his nose. At the hospital, fire brigade personnel arrived with a cutter and removed the hook from his nose, rescuing him.
Speaking to Newslions, Mahesh, Senior Fire & Rescue Officer, Fire Station Adoor, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, stated that Shifas, 29, a resident of Panavilayil, Theppupara in Ezhamkulam Panchayat Ward 4, was rushed to Adoor Government Hospital after a fishing bait became lodged in his nose. The incident occurred while he was loading fish into his lorry when the nearby bait thread accidentally got tangled, causing the hook at the end to pierce his nose unexpectedly. Recognizing the urgency, a team of emergency responders led by STO, SFRO Ajeesh Kumar, FRO Mara Arunjith, and Santosh George quickly arrived at the hospital.
Using a cutter, the team carefully cut the bait thread and removed the hook from Shifas’s nose, ensuring his safety. The swift intervention of the officials prevented further injury and averted a potentially dangerous situation, highlighting the importance of prompt medical attention and coordinated action in handling such unusual accidents.
