Snakes seen 'dancing' during fight over female in India
This was the interesting moment two snakes were seen 'dancing' while fighting over who gets to mate with the female snake nearby.
The clip, filmed on July 3 in India, shows the pair of rat snakes entwining together attempting to push each others heads to the ground.
Nature enthusiast Arindam Roy told Newsflare: "People often mistake this for mating because they entwine and it looks sensual to our eyes. But this is ritual combat between male rat snakes for mating rights.
"However, as snakes lack limbs, they entwine to try to get above their opponent and push the opponent’s head to the ground. The loser is the one whose head gets pushed to the ground," he continued.
