Twenty-nine tonnes of carrots were dumped outside Goldsmiths University in London as part of an art installation for a degree show.

The piece called 'Grounding' by artist Rafael Pérez Evans was unveiled on Tuesday (September 29) and was intended to highlight food wastage. The artist has said the carrots will eventually go to feeding animals.

The artwork has divided student opinion. On Thursday (October 1), students were seen taking photos among the carrots while others criticised it for misusing food which could've fed local residents.

An Instagram account made in protest of the artwork, @goldsmithscarrots, has gained over 1,200 followers in a few days. The students running the account are selling vegan cakes made from the carrots to raise money for food banks.
