Thai protesters clashed with police as they broke through barricades and marched to Government House in Bangkok on Wednesday evening (October 21).

Footage shows demonstrators pushing through razor-wire fences and rows of riot police put in place to stop the march towards the political power base.

Officers relented and let through protesters who continued to the government building where a letter containing a set of demands for democratic reforms was handed to police.

Earlier in the evening, thousands of demonstrators gathered at the Victory Monument in the centre of the capital on the eighth consecutive day of anti-establishment rallies.

The movement calling for democratic reforms has surged in recent weeks with rallies being held every day since last Tuesday (October 13).
