Police in Warsaw detained 20 people during a protest against the tightening of Poland's abortion law on Wednesday (November 18).

Polish civil society has rebelled against the government, which for six years undermined the independence of the judiciary, spread toxic propaganda against the LGBT community, promoting a generally Catholic, anti-liberal and nationalist agenda. Apparently, the abortion ban was the last straw. The situation was aggravated by the pandemic, for which the government failed to properly prepare, hundreds of deaths every day, the collapse of the health care system, growing unemployment and a general feeling of depression. And hundreds of thousands of Poles took to the streets.
A few thousands protesters took part in a demonstration in downtown Warsaw on Wednesday night (November 18). It lasted after midnight. Police used a tear gas in clashes on Warsaw Uprising Square, near public television building.
