This is the moment Shanghai's biggest international airport descended into chaos after authorities ordered mass testing following a COVID-19 outbreak linked to cargo handlers.

All personnel at Shanghai Pudong International Airport queued up for COVID tests overnight on November 22.

It’s reported that there have been five cases among cargo workers this month.

Video shows some of the nearly 18,000 members of staff from the airport's cargo department lining up to receive nucleic acid testing overnight for mass testing.

Of the total of 17,719 people tested, 11,544 people had completed nucleic acid testing and tested negative. The samples of the remaining 6,175 people are still being inspected.

Nucleic acid tests will be carried out regularly for high-risk operators in the freight area and high-risk operators are to receive emergency vaccination against the COVID-19 on a voluntary basis.

The disinfection of inbound goods, production facilities in cargo areas and working environment will be further strengthened, Chinese media reported.

The video was provided by local media.
