This was the distressing moment a driver suffered a broken sternum after a car performed an "illegal U-turn" in the Norfolk village of Costessey on the outskirts of Norwich.

The dashcam footage from December 1, 2019, shows the incident on the A1074, Dereham Road near Longwater Retail Park.

The dashcam motorist is seen driving in the right-hand lane, while another driver pulls out from the left-hand-side across both lanes without looking properly.

The dashcam driver is unable to manoeuvre away from danger and smashes into the side of the car performing the U-turn.

The driver suffered a fractured sternum and spent multiple weeks in the hospital.

It is believed the other driver suffered whiplash.
