This is the amusing moment a pet dog completes the nine evening mass tradition for Christmas in the Philippines.

The pet dog was quietly sitting in the middle of the aisle while listening to the priest’s sermon in Ormoc City during the nine masses it attended on December 24.

Maria Dayde Laude, who lives near the church, said the dog named Bukoy was owned by her cousin and it loves to join people whenever they are doing something.

She said: ‘That dog is worthy of imitation. He was never baptized, yet gave importance to mass.’

Maria added that Bukoy has been accustomed to mass, as their family always brings the pooch along with them.

Filipino tradition ‘Misa de Gallo,’ which translates to ‘Mass of the Rooster,’ was introduced by Spanish friars in the 17th century to agricultural communities so that farmers could attend mass before heading off to the fields early in the morning.
