Amusing footage has captured the moment a mink decided to keep a Canadian couple company while they were out ice fishing. Penny and Greg Mercer discovered the mink, lovingly named Sneaky Pete, when they visited their ice shack near Red Lake in Ontario on January 16th.

Upon entering their shack, they removed the ice hole covers and found Sneaky Pete looking up at them. Sneaky Pete initially hid under the shack but eventually mustered up enough courage to actually climb up into the shack. He then stayed there the the entire time the Mercers were fishing, and even took naps under their wood stove. Sneaky Pete’s company does come with a cost though. According to the Mercers, they now have to reel up their lines quickly so he doesn't steal their fish.

Speaking about the video Penny said: “We have an ice shack on Gullrock Lake near Red Lake Ontario and discovered one day a Mink inside our shack! We took the covers off the ice holes and there he is Sneaky Pete as we call him! He stays the entire time we fish and even naps under our wood stove.

The only down side to having him around is that he steals our fish. We have to reel up our lines quickly so Sneaky Pete doesn’t steal our fish and drag it under our shack to feed on later.”
