COAL TOWNSHIP - Kevin M. "Bubba" Malukas, 59, of Webster Street, passed away peacefully at home with Haley by his side, Monday, March 8, 2021. Kevin was born March 1, 1962, in Shamokin, a son of the late Lucille "Lucy" Malukas. He was a lifelong resident of the Shamokin area. Kevin was a graduate of Shamokin Area High School, Class of 1980. On Feb. 22, 1985, he was married to the former Sandra Hoffa who survives. Kevin worked for the state since 1997, having been employed as an aide in the psychology department at Danville State Hospital. In his early years, he worked at Skate-R-Way as a skate guard. He was an EMT since 1980 - one of the area's first - and was one of the first crew members of Medic 9 in Shamokin. He also served with Regional EMS, of Mount Carmel, was the chief ambulance driver for the Fairview Fire Co. and served as Coal Township fire chief since 1996. He was an active member of Mother Cabrini Church and the East End Fire Co., Six County Firemen's Association, Brady Fire Co. and the Rescue Fire Co. He faithfully worked with the Rescue Fire Co. helping making doughnuts and could always be found helping out at the Mother Cabrini Church picnics, especially at the Father's Day weekend picnic. Very often you would see Kevin, Haley and his friends sitting on a bench in the Market Street park plot discussing the days events and just watching over the town. They were the "Market Street bench crew". He is survived by his wife, Sandra, and their children, Valerie Malukas, Jennifer Price and her husband, Jay, and Kevin Malukas and his wife, Courtney; his granddog, Haley; four grandchildren, Lukas Behr, Ella Price, Ava Price and Brynn Malukas; a sister, Arlene "Snook" Barber and her husband, James; and his sister-in-law, Diane Fessler. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, MaryLou and Edward Hoffa; his grandmother, Helen; his niece, Marcelle; and his brother-in-law, Ron Fessler. MALUKAS - Kevin M. "Bubba" Malukas, 59, of Webster Street, Coal Township. A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Mother Cabrini Church, 200 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Leonard J Lucas Jr., supervisor, Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
