This footage was filmed and produced 21 April 2021.

Protest over the jailed opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, erupted across the nation on Wednesday evening in Yekaterinburg. Demonstrations were called to be held in more than 100 cities.

The biggest ones were expected to be in Moscow and St Petersburg.

The video shows people chanting "we want changes" and "Navalny".

One of the demonstrators expressed his opinion and said that organization is important during protests and only together people can make a change. He called people to shout slogans and support Alexei Navalny. In the background, you can hear police reporting that this rally is uncoordinated and people have 10 minutes to disperse:

[0:46-2:55]
Alexei, there's a poor guy, he'll die soon. And they just walk down the street, well done!
– And what do you propose to do now?
– I suggest first that there should be an organized crowd, so be it. Let's get up! Let's get started! What are you here for? I ask everyone this question.
– Listen to you.
– Well, thank you, of course. We are here because of Navalny, because of freedom, because of our freedom in the first place! I don't see how many people are here.
– A lot of people are pulling up.
– Don't be afraid of it, why be afraid? Well, a couple of times with a baton hit. The press is here. Let everyone see how they work. We just stand there, quiet and peaceful. Now we will shout slogans quietly and peacefully.
– Just keep it quiet.
– Maybe not quite good ones. Did you hear what Putin said? He said that he would not allow them to go beyond the red line. So, Volodya (editor's note: Volodya – Vladimir Putin), we have long been behind it!
(applause)
– Let us, since we are gathered here, support a person who is not afraid to resist this system. Alexey Navalny – you were a blogger, but you became a real man. He was not afraid, he just showed the whole country, all the officials, he is not even afraid of death! Let's all shout together.

The crowd chants: [2:56-3:27]
– "Navalny".
– Come on, come on!
(voice over megaphone: Participation in this event is not authorized. We give you 10 minutes to leave the place).

[3:33-3:35]
– Space will be ours.

[4:30-4:45]
– The police are a disgrace to Russia!

Despite the threats of the police, people continued to strike and are not going to give up.
